General building information

Audi is again expanding its commitments in Hungary on a large scale. Audi Hungaria was founded in 1993 and, since that time, the group has produced 20,000,000 engines and 535,000 vehicles here and employs 6,500 specialist employees. After the laying of the second foundation stone on 7 July 2011, the expansion of the factory site to 2,000,000 square metres began, from which 125,000 vehicles are expected to roll off the production line annually in the future. An investment volume of around 900 million euros and 2,100 new jobs – these figures signal the significance of the major project. With the expansion of the hall area to 340,000 square metres, Audi Hungaria has a total of 3,700,000 square metres of factory space in Hungary, making it a complete car factory.

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

OBO equipped the new halls and buildings with cable support systems to a value of almost 2 million euros, which were used in the following new buildings:

  • G60 Paint shop
  • G50/53 Chassis construction
  • G80 Mounting
  • G42 Central power supply

The good collaboration between the Hungarian installation engineers, the Hungarian sales company and the German OBO parent company, as well as the Project and Systems Technology (PUS) department, was a key factor in the flawless success of the project. The first delivery was made in September 2011 and, by the end of the year, a turnover level over around 1 million euros had already been achieved. In the halls there are, amongst other things, 21.5 kilometres of WKSG wide span cable trays, 6.3 kilometres of WKLG wide span cable laddersand 2,400 I supports. The expansion will be completed according to plan by the end of 2012 and production will start in mid-2013.
