Project description

The Schönefelder Kreuz Aerospace Centre near Berlin is a meeting place for established companies wishing to expand into this attractive hi-tech branch. Due to its proximity to the future BER city airport as well as to major aerospace companies and colleges, the centre offers ideal conditions for research, development, production and service. OBO supported the construction of the technology centre from the planning phase through to acceptance, and supplied cable support systems, underfloor systems as well as fire protection systems.

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

The underfloor systems OKA-W and EÜK were used in the office areas of the Aerospace Centre. These solutions allow flexible and discreet power and data supply to all the workstations – whether in the area near the windows, which reach down to the floor, or in the centre of the room. The OKA-W system can be opened at any time, for example to install new cables. Trunking widths of 600 mm allow high volumes of cables and offer the necessary capacity for future requirements.

The presentation rooms on the ground floor are supplied with power and data connections via the screed-covered EÜK system, in combination with round VA cassettes. The use of cassettes with lowerable tube body as a cable outlet means that the floor areas can be wet-cleaned. The floor covering recesses of the VA cassettes were cast in epoxy resin to match the floor area and thus blend seamlessly into the appearance of the floor.

For cable routing in technical rooms, corridors and plant halls, OBO RKSM cable trays were used. OBO fire protection systems provide the necessary maintenance of electrical function in the event of fire. OBO equipotential bonding rails offer protection against electric shock.

What type of challenges occurred during construction?

The construction project was erected in the period between October 2009 and the autumn of 2012. OBO sales engineers, together with the planning office, developed a concept for the electrical and data cabling of the entire building. During the construction phase, OBO provided on-site support to the installation engineer in tackling challenges and made a major contribution to the flawless execution of the construction work.
